There is a gelding in Glen Ellen, CA which is in the wine country of Sonoma Valley. A Thoroughbred rescue called GEVA, www.glenellenfarms.com/geva is trying to find a home for him. Pam who runs GEVA is a steward at Golden Gate Fields and the racing fair in Pleasanton. GEVA was founded to provide homes for injured, retired, and abused horses, or horses just in need of a home. They are dedicated to preventing the inhumane and needless slaughter and abuse of horses. Her facility cannot accommodate the horse at this time. The horses' name is Alpha Dancer. He is a chestnut Thoroughbred gelding with a white blaze on his forehead. He is about 15 yo, 15.2 hands and "chunky". He supposedly had a broken hip or leg. He's full weight bearing on it and doesn't show any deformity. Pam cannot verify a current or future problem. His disposition is good as well and she is trying to find out if he is rideable. The owners plan to euthanize him needlessly. They don't want the horse anymore. Can anyone give this horse a home? Please email DMELLEN225@aol.com and she will forward your information to Pam. ************************************************** Sidenote- Posting for a rescue collegue of mine that requested I get the word out for this fella.

Update - This fella has a place for the price of shipping Posted this week an the board it appeared: "I sent out many emails to the area and non-area rescues. I did receive an email today from a rescue who said they could take the horse. I sent the information to Pam at GEVA and she will be contacting the rescue. I think there will be a significant shipping cost. I'll keep you posted."

Tamy, Thanks for the update. Let us know how this goes. From painful experience we know that shipping costs can be a real budget buster!
