At our Board meeting for October, the following changes to the board were made:
Karla Phanuef has stepped down from the board. Her term expired in October and she did not seek to renew. I wish to extend my sincere appreciation for all of the work that Karla has done over the years for The Exceller Fund in helping our horses.
The board elected Nicole Smith as a new board member. Nicole was previously the Adoption Coordinator at the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation - Maker's Mark Secretariat Center. "Niki" is thrilled to be helping us and has already started on some fundraising ideas!
Please extend a warm Exceller Fund welcome to Nicole Smith! You can contact her by sending an e-mail to mail@excellerfund.org
Melissa Miller has notified that board that when her term expires in March 2008, she will not be seeking a renewal. Melissa would like to make room for someone with the time and ideas to contribute to running The Exceller Fund.
I would like to entertain nominations to our Board. You can send your nominations to mail@excellerfund.org, and in the subject line indicate: BOARD NOMINATION
We also received notice from Jean Hembree after 8 years of being the guardian of the check donations, she will be stepping down from that position in March 2008. We will be seeking a suitable replacement since this is a very key position to the success of The Exceller Fund, which means the well being of our horses.
We have a potential lead on someone, but if that doesn't work out, we may need to consider a bookkeeping or lockbox service. I am looking into the costs. Whoever takes over will need to be trustworthy, dedicated, dependable and consistent.
If you have any suggestions, please submit them to mail@excellerfund.org - subject line BOOKKEEPING
ADVISORY BOARD
It is with great pleasure that I announce our Advisory Board. These people have all accepted our invitation to be Advisory Board members, and each of these people is highly respected in his or her field:

Barbara Livingston, Photographer, Eclipse Award Winner
Gary Contessa, one of New York's leading Trainers
Hallie McEvoy, noted Author of Genuine Risk, Showing for Beginners, and Horse Show Judging for Beginners
Lorna Coyle, DVM - Otter Creek Equine Associates, Virginia
Please join me in extending a warm thank you to our new Advisory Board.
