Summer must be in full swing because I just got my second catalog for Christmas cards, and the Back-to-School sale advertisements are everywhere!
2007 is more than half-way over and the "To Do" list keeps getting longer!
The big news for July is that we got one hors ADOPTED took in THREE MORE HORSES! These horses were in New York and were headed for auction. We got a special offer in that we did not have to pay for these horses up front and we had a great deal on transport to take these horse to Lexington where they got a free vetting at Hagyards Equine Clinic. How does one say "No" to that, especially since one of the horse is a 9 year old with 138 starts!
ADOPTED!
MAD MAC has been adopted by Cynthia from Georgia. Cynthia is thrilled with Mac and will go on and on about how smart he is and what a good boy he is.
Cynthis went to see Mac in Kentucky and fell in love. She was so excited about getting him that she had her camera ready when the transport brought him to his new home!:
And here he is in his (literally) brand new stall!
And here he is enjoying his new home.
NEW HORSES!
Introducing our three newest horses:
PRESCISION WINNER
1998 - Chestunut gelding by Groomstick out of Wards Precisioncut (by Center Cut)
138 Starts, 9 Wins, 11 Places, 15 Shows Career Earnings: $99,248
I would say this fella has paid his dues, so I am hoping we can provide him with a nice retirement or second career.
STALK 2004 Chestnut Gelding by David out of Miss Dixie Dream (by Dixie Brass)
He was not raced much and appears to still be growing!
FLAWLESS ONE 2003 Dark Bay Fill by Hunting Hard out of Flawless Lady (by Hazaam)
She only ran three times and didn't do much on the track, but is reported to be a VERY nice filly!
Our thanks to Blue Springs TB for helping us secure these three, and to Julie Householder for getting the vetting at no charge for us!

In the interest of moving horses into new homes, we have transferred Countontherun to New Vocations in Ohio. This means he will be adopted out under the New Vocations program, but they will update us on his adopter as well as photos. New Vocations has a strong adoption program, but it is a little different from us in that they transfer ownership after 2 years. Depending on how it goes we Count, we will probably be sending more horses to New Vocations although we will limit it to geldings.
You can check Count on on New Vocations website at:
www.horseadoption.com/horsedetail.asp?id=655
And yes, that is him! He has one of those odd "liver" chestnut coats that goes through wild color changes between winter and summer!
FUNDRAISING EFFORTS
Loretta Tarnowski is donating a signed Fred Stone print of John Henry. This will be going up on eBay, so keep your eyes and ears open for the auction!
I will also be putting up a collection of items as a Tribute to Chris Antley. The package includes a Barbara Livingston photo of Chris aboard Charismatic winning the Derby, a special hand sewn "Antley" bear from Danielle Rudman, and other items.
Our Direct Mail campaign went out last week, and we hope to know by the end of the month whether or not its a success. We thought the mailer looked very nice and very professional, so keep your fingers crossed that it does well! We have many more horses knocking at our door for help, but without funding, there is not much we can do.
We are also looking into a formal "Sponsorhip" program which is something different than what we have done before. This is for special needs horses such as Take A Chance, Trois Villes, or Eye Pea Oh who will need additional time or treatments before they are ready for adoption.
I have Barbaro calendars from Tranquility Farm to send to the people that are sponsoring Take A Chance. I would also like to welcome the sponsors of Take A Chance to The Exceller Fund!
I will hopefully be having more news before the end of this month on horses being relocated to different areas in the interest of increasing adoption chances as well as news about our fundraising efforts.
