Here is a quick update on our horses!
SELWAY
This handsome 15.3 hand stocky bay was unable to attract a private buyer and time was running out. He was scheduled to be shipped to Canada for slaughter. As stated in our previous update, Alex Brown of Tim Wooley racing was able to contact Barclay Tagg who contacted the breeder. The breeder called me with EXTREME gratitude that we would be able to keep this horse from going to slaughter. She sent an overnight delivery of a check to cover our expenses for purchase, transport, and foster care for a number of months to make sure this horse is safe.
Selway was named in honor of Dr. Selway, a veterinary surgeon who has saved the lives of many horses including Charismatic after his breakdown in the Belmont.
Milt, our foster in New York reports that Selway is settling in well. Right now, this area of New York has good pasture which is something hard to find right now in many areas of the country. Milt reports that Selway is calm and appears to be sound.
Here are some new photos:
TAKE A CHANCE
Take A Chance is (finally) at Tranquility Farm for the remainder of his rehab. He will remain on stall rest for another couple of months and then slowly be introduced to larger and larger turnout. It is estimated that full recovery will take about a year. Priscilla reports that Chance has a very calm temperament and a wonderful personality. She feels he will make someone a very nice horse! The Fans of Barbaro are working on coming up with 10 people to help sponsor him since our monthly cost will be greater due to the rehab.

EYE PEA OH
"Opie" continues to do better. He is on the Probiotic supplement from Performance Products, and his foster, Julie, is very happy with how he is progessing. He has lost weight from this ordeal, and since his diet must be restricted for now, and since recovery takes time, Julie will oversee a slow gain to minimize digestive issues.
MAD MAC
An adoption is pending on MAD MAC!!! A woman from Georgia has been approved to adopt Mac. She visited Mac in Kentucky this past weekend and filled out the paperwork and adoption fee. Mac is scheduled to go to his new home next Tuesday. We look forward to hearing updates from Cynthia on her new boy!
Don't forget to check GOODSEARCH on July11, 2007. The Exceller Fund will be named "Charity of the Day"!!! So far, we have a raised $120 through GoodSearch searches, so please keep that site in mind the next time you are doing a search on the Internet!
Final note - don't be surprised if you should receive an Exceller Fund fundraising letter in the mail. We are giving this a shot with a no-cost, no-obligation offer from a professional fundraising company. If we are to continue our mission of Providing a Future Beyond the Finish Line, we must grow our fundraising base and resources! If you should recieve the mailer, be sure to let us know what you think - comments can be sent to mail@excellerfund.org
I hope everyone is enjoying a Happy and Safe Fourth of July!!!
