RICH IN DALLAS - Latest Adventure!
Rich In Dallas made public appearances AND competed in the New Vocations Charity Horse Show in Ohio this past July 29th and 30th. Here is a brief report from Paul and Kelly:
We made it home tonight a bit after 10:00, got our two heroes taken care of and now have few minutes to relax before we die for the night. The show was a great thing - New Vocations did a 1st class job, attendance was good (about 150 riders I heard) and everybody had fun.
I'll write some more a bit later after some rest, but Dallas just did great and you should be very proud of him! Kicked some Dressage Horse hiney his first time ever doing dressage, won a ribbon in a Adult Hunter on the flat, walk/trot class and even got a 5th in the War Horse in hand class.
He also rode in the arena (walk, trot, canter) at lunch every day in his "Super Biscuit" outfit and did wonderful. There was one brief moment of horror during Saturday's Seabiscuit Show when he found a very sloppy mud hole in the arena and made it perfectly clear that he was going to roll in it, costume (and rider!) and all. Kelly convinced him otherwise.
Jenna Fox rode Dallas in a couple of his classes. Jenna was Dallas's rider and handler when he was the Kentucky Horse Park. She absolutely loves him and drove up to see him today and ride him in several classes, including Sunday's Seabiscuit presentation. She and Dallas do very well together.
Dallas won 4 ribbons at the show! He got 1st Place - Intro Dressage Test A; 4th place - Adult Hunter Walk/Trot, 5th Place - Intro Dressage Test B; and 5th Place - War Horse In Hand. Dallas even wrote a letter which I have posted on the Bulletin Board in the Members Only Section. I'll send a small prize to the first 5 people who post a response under Dallas' letter!!!!! (HINT - The User Name and Password information is down near the bottom of this letter.)
Upcoming events for Dallas include the 1st Annual Exceller Fund Charity Horse Show in Virginia in October, and as a Celebrity Horse at the Equine Affaire in Springfield Massachusetts in November. We also have some Corporate Sponsorhip inquiries for Dallas. We are still in the very early discussion stages, and we will see if this works out!

FUNDRAISING
The book, Sing & Alex continues to sell well. This is a very rare opportunity to own a sure-to-be CLASSIC Children's book - first edition signed by both the author and the illustrator! In addition, Rob Saur is in Saratoga and he is getting a number of the jockeys to sign copies of the book. More info will come later on that! If you haven't ordered your very own copy of Sing & Alex, be sure to do so soon. And remember, it's NEVER to early to get started on that Christmas List - especially for your nieces, nephews, grandchildren, children of friends, and the young-at-heart racing fan in your life.
I am also working on more eBay auctions and hope to have them up soon!
WEBSITE - UPDATES/REVISIONS
The Exceller Fund website has been in its current version for almost 9 years now, and many people have advised us that we need to "freshen up" our look. Our webmaster is working on an exciting re-design of our website that we hope to unveil in the near future. Some of the planned improvements include:
Menu bar at the top of the website instead of the along the side. This will allow more room for items to be displayed on our pages.
A simplified front page that will have icons to important areas (such as our Trainer Listings, Horses, and Giftshop), but will reduce the cluttered appearance we currently have.
Our horses will be listed as "Available for Adoption", "Adopted", and "Retired". We will no longer separate out "Riding" vs "Pasture Pals" because many people may not even bother to look at the gorgeous companion horses we have available.
If you have suggestions for what you'd like to see on the website, please send them to mail@excellerfund.org We can't guaranty that we will incorporate all suggestions, but it is important to know what is on your mind!
